The highlight of China's Shaanxi province - which is not to be confused with it's northern neighbour Shanxi - is the ancient city of Xian home to the world famous terracotta warriors. Xian is much more than the warriors though and is considered one of the major cities along the silk route with a large muslim population and old walled city now dwarfed by the ever expanding new metropolis outside of the city walls.
